How to Include Gold in Your Investment Portfolio

Last updated: July 2026

Gold is traditionally viewed as a "safe-haven" asset, since it often holds or gains value during periods of economic uncertainty, and its correlation with stocks tends to be low — making it a useful diversification tool.

A reasonable gold allocation

Many financial advisors suggest allocating roughly 5–15% of a portfolio to gold, depending on risk tolerance and goals — though this is not a fixed rule and varies from person to person.

Adding it in the tool

On the Settings page, add a new asset named "Gold" and set your desired target weight. The tool will automatically tell you when to buy or sell to maintain that allocation.
